Greedy Beaver

Greedy Beaver

Firewire
Owners Rating:
The Greedy Beaver, designed for versatility, combines a shortboard feel with a compressed longboard outline. This true crossover board offers midlength retro glide and shortboard maneuverability. Featuring a single to double concave, it provides lift and speed, while the rounded pin tail allows for precise turns in the pocket. The beveled rail reduces thickness for rapid direction changes. The large planing surface enables effortless trimming over dead sections, and the board’s excellent paddle power raises your wave count. Ideal for surfers looking to blend glide and maneuverability, the Greedy Beaver excels in a variety of conditions.

Under Your Feet

All the paddle power of something much longer, packed into an outline you can still put on rail. You feel the front half glide and the back half wake up the moment you step back onto the round pin, and the switch between the two is quicker than the outline suggests. Forgiving without being dull, the kind of board that makes you greedy about wave count.

When it's pumping

  • Holds better in punchy surf than the outline makes it look, but don't get too excited.
  • The extra foam up front means it wants a slightly wider line than a shortboard, so you're drawing arcs rather than snapping into them.
  • Head high is the ceiling, past that you'll feel the volume start to work against you.

When it's fair

  • This is where it earns its name. Knee to waist high, you're catching waves everyone else is watching go by.
  • The single to double concave and the low rocker carry you straight through dead sections without a pump.
  • Small and gutless doesn't mean flat and boring on this thing, step back and it still turns on a dime.
