Avaliação dos Donos:
The Griffin is a step-down performance shortboard drawn directly from Griffin Colapinto's small-wave and wave-pool competition boards. A low/moderate, fast entry rocker gets it planing early and carries speed through flat sections, while the curvy performance tail rocker and rounded pin let it release out of the lip rather than track, which is what keeps it quick in and out of turns and easy to punt off. Overall width stays close to a standard shortboard, with the extra area pushed out into the nose and tail, so it paddles better than a pulled-in HPSB without the flat, clunky feel of a typical small-wave design. It suits intermediate to advanced surfers who want a comp-grade board for knee to head high everyday surf rather than a groveler.

Embaixo dos Pés

Frisky is the right word for it. It gets moving early and keeps moving through the flats, but the part you notice underfoot is how readily the tail lets go when you ask it to, so turns finish quicker than you expect them to. It never feels wide or floaty, just short and eager, which is a different sensation to most boards aimed at small surf.

Quando está bombando

  • The tail rocker is real performance curve, so it turns hard and tight when there is actually a section worth hitting.
  • Release off the lip comes easily, which is the fun part in punchy surf and worth knowing about if you prefer a board that tracks.
  • It is still a step-down, so on a genuinely big day you will want the length and pulled-in tail of a proper HPSB.

Quando está fraco

  • This is what it was built for. Low/moderate entry rocker and a filled-in nose get you into weak waves early and keep you moving through the dead bits.
  • It stays loose when the wave offers nothing, so crumbly little sections still turn into reverses and punts instead of trimming.
  • Knee high to head high everyday surf, wave pools included, is where the whole design makes sense.
