Owners Rating:
The Formula-1 Round is a high-performance shortboard built around the round pin tail Yago Dora rode to a win at Lowers. A deep single concave running to double concave through the rear fin delivers speed and lift, while a pulled-in pin and boxy tail rails add bite and hold when the wave has push. It sits more set back in outline and rail-line rocker than the Driver 3.0, with extra nose rocker ahead of the front foot for control in steeper drops. Best in punchy beach breaks, points, and reefs from around 2 to 8 feet, for intermediate/advanced surfers who want tight-radius turns without losing drive.

Under Your Feet

The round pin tail allows you to push into a bottom turn and trust it will hold when the face goes vertical, and the vee deck with fuller rails keeps it from feeling knifey underfoot. It's the board Yago Dora rode to win the Lowers CT title, and it feels exactly like what a world title run demands: precise, fast, and reliable.

When it's pumping

  • The pin holds through the whole arc, so you can lean harder into a turn than instinct says you should.
  • Steep, pushing waves are where the deep concave stops being a spec and starts being a shove.
  • Rewards commitment: surf it hesitantly and it feels like nothing much is happening.

When it's fair

  • Not the tool for gutless waist-high waves. There's foam here, but the tail is pulled in and it wants push.
  • You can make it work on an average day, you just won't enjoy it as much as other models with less rocker would.
