Mini Driver (Re-Issue)

Mini Driver (Re-Issue)

LOST
Owners Rating:
The Mini Driver (Re-Issue) is a shortened, widened Round Pin Driver: a daily driver with pro-formance DNA, born as a one-off for Kolohe Andino in the Mentawais and now brought back with refined rails and foil. Plenty of planing area, low-ish entry rocker and soft forgiving rails make it playful in average surf, while the foiled round pin tail and modest overall rocker let it hold a line and fit tight into the pocket when the waves have power. Lost calls it an ATV of surfboards, at home in small punchy beach breaks, head-high-plus points and reefs of any size. A strong pick for intermediate to advanced surfers who normally ride performance boards and want one that covers roughly 1–8ft.

Under Your Feet

Short and wide enough to feel forgiving, but the round pin means it doesn't behave like a small board when you lean on it, it sits down and holds instead of skipping out. The forgiveness is up front, the seriousness is in the tail. It's the board that stops you second-guessing which one to grab.

When it's pumping

  • The round pin and modest rocker mean it sits down and holds when you'd expect a board this short to let go.
  • Slots into barrels without the length, which was the entire original brief.
  • Push it as hard as you like, the tail doesn't flinch.

When it's fair

  • Planing area and low entry rocker keep it moving in average surf, so it's not just a good-wave board.
  • In genuinely dead, waist-high mush it'll get by, but the pulled tail isn't generating speed out of nothing the way a groveler would.
